The Children's Music Program at Danville Congregational Church began approximately 9 years ago under the direction of Sandy and Bruce MacAulay. It has grown from 15 to sometimes as many as 45 children. This year we are excited to introduce our new name "Joyful Arts Ministry" or JAM.
All children, ages 3 through 5th grade, are welcome to participate in this program that introduces them to the joys of music making. The program runs during the school calendar year (Sep-Jun) and is held every Sunday during the 9:30 a.m. Worship Service (children are dismissed from the service after "Time With Children" to attend the JAM activities). The program time and Worship Service end concurrently. On communion Sundays, we dismiss the children in time to join their families back in the sanctuary for communion.
Our program uses drama, games, movement, singing, and playing musical instruments to explore the basics of music. It also incorporates correct vocal production, music theory, sight singing, and choreography.
Our program is dedicated to preparing the children to be life-long participants in the music of the church. Music is a gift from God and what a blessing it can be to share this gift with others.
A time of fun, fellowship and joyful music making are here for all. Enroll your children in this exciting program that will change and enhance their lives in a wonderful, positive way.
